What I Stand For

Policy Priorities

Real solutions for the issues that matter most to District 50 families

Education

Investing in our students, teachers, and schools

Our schools are being told to do more with less. They shouldn't be caught in political crossfire and as your State Senator, I won't just chat about investing in education. I'll fight to make sure the state keeps its promises to our kids.

Teachers are burnt out, and our students are feeling it. We need to focus on what matters: paying teachers enough to keep the best ones, providing real mental health help, and having a curriculum that gets kids ready for life, whether they go to college or learn a trade.

I'm for an education system where every kid in District 50 gets a real chance at a good life, no matter where they live. I'm about getting things done, plain and simple.

Mental Health

Care for the whole person, not just the symptoms

Mental health should not be a partisan issue; it's a human one. Mental health is real and the effects on Minnesotans can be drastic. Too many families in our community struggle to find timely, affordable, and effective support for themselves or their loved ones.

It's hard to stay healthy when you're worried about losing your home or making ends meet, and it's even harder when the care you need is priced out of reach.

My plan is straightforward: increase funding for our local clinics, get more counselors into our schools, and strengthen crisis response systems so in times of need people receive care—not punishment.

I will also fight to ensure insurance parity is the law, not a suggestion. We need a 'no-wrong-door' approach to recovery. By supporting our mental health workforce and addressing the root causes of stress, we can make Minnesota a place where everyone has a chance at a healthy life.

Public Safety

Trust, training, and common sense solutions

At its core, public safety is about trust and common sense. I support our law enforcement officers, and believe they should have the resources and training they need. That includes education and training in cultural awareness and de-escalation, so officers can serve our community safely and respectfully.

In the Senate, I will push for funding the things that actually keep us safe like well-trained first responders, real support for victims, and community programs that stop problems before they start. This will require us to make sure our courts, local agencies and community youth programs have the resources needed to be effective.

We need a justice system that is fair, firm, and focused on results so residents of District 50 feel safe, not just on paper, but in their everyday lives. I'm an advocate for a system that protects everyone and is rooted in transparency, accountability and justice.

Social Justice

A fair shot for everyone in our community

To me, justice and opportunity aren't just campaign selling points, they're about our lived experiences and those of our neighbors. It's about whether a parent in our district can actually find an affordable home for their family, or if a student feels like they truly belong in their own classroom.

I believe our system should be focused on lifting people up. I am committed to advancing policies that confront discrimination, expand access to affordable housing and healthcare, protect workers' rights, and reform our criminal justice system so it is fair and effective for all.

It is crucial to fix a justice system that relies too much on punishment and not enough on rehabilitation so that regardless of where you come from, who you love or what you worship, you have a fair shot at a good life.

We're at our best when we look out for one another, and as your State Senator, I'll be focused on the daily realities that matter to our families. It's about our connection with one another—it takes a village. We're a village of many cultures, nations and peoples. We all want a fair shot.

Consumer Protection

Putting power back in the hands of working families

Right now, too many Minnesotans are being squeezed by price gouging and deceptive business practices.

I believe in putting power back into the hands of the people who actually make our economy go. I intend to crack down on the 'junk fees' draining our bank accounts and ensure things like broadband and healthcare are treated as the necessities they are and not as opportunities to exploit us.

Whether it's protecting seniors from scams or making sure students aren't buried in unfair debt, I'll always favor honest business over predatory profit.

Veterans

Honoring those who served with real support

As Americans, our duty to veterans does not end when they come home—it starts there. The men and women who serve our country deserve more than a "thank you for your service". They deserve real support when they return home.

As a son of a marine and having children currently serving in the military, I see firsthand the sacrifice our service members and their families make. I will fight to knock down barriers and expand access to quality health care, especially mental health services. I'll work to make sure veterans can find stable housing, have access to job training and education programs so they can successfully transition into civilian life.

I plan to push for investing in long-term care, caregiver support and partnerships with local organizations that serve those who served us. Whether returning from active duty, transitioning to civilian life, or aging in place, our veterans deserve dignity, respect, and opportunity.

Honoring veterans means acting, and I am committed to making Minnesota a state where every veteran can thrive. They've done their duty—now it's time for us to do ours.

Economy & Cost of Living

Making everyday life more affordable

Families here in District 50 are feeling the squeeze. Housing costs are up, healthcare is more expensive, and even a simple trip to the grocery store adds up fast. People are working harder than ever and still trying to keep their heads above water.

I know we can do better. To me, fiscal responsibility is about being careful with tax dollars while supporting the things our communities depend on, like strong public schools, health care, and public safety. It also means no hidden costs and no last-minute surprises for taxpayers.

I'm willing and ready to work across the aisle to lower costs, promote job growth and improve wage opportunities to keep our economy strong. Prosperity and security shouldn't just be a talking point—it should be a reality for everyone.

Environment

Clean energy and protected green spaces

Clean energy and green spaces are essential to our quality of life and economic future. Investing in renewable energy creates good-paying local jobs while reducing pollution and lowering long-term energy costs for families and businesses.

To me, clean energy isn't just about the environment—it's about lowering the monthly bills for families in Bloomington and Edina. I want to make it easier (and cheaper) for homeowners to go solar and for our great state to lead the way in creating jobs in Minnesota for Minnesotans. I will support policies that expand clean energy incentives, strengthen our electric grid, and help homeowners and small businesses make the transition to more affordable and sustainable power.

One of the best things about living in District 50 is our access to parks like Hyland Park and trails like those along the Minnesota River Valley. These spaces are the heart of our community and keeping them healthy is essential.

Green spaces like these improve public health, strengthen property values, and foster community, while helping address climate challenges like flooding and extreme weather. In the Senate, I will fight for smart growth that preserves our environment, promotes outdoor recreation, and ensures future generations inherit a Minnesota that is cleaner, healthier, and even more resilient than the one we know today.

When you think of justice what does it mean when talking about the environment? For a long time we've neglected and failed to appreciate what our environment does for us. For too long we've favored profit over our homes' wellbeing. We are stewards for this vessel we call Earth and once it's gone it's gone.

Artificial Intelligence

Guardrails that protect people while allowing progress

Across Minnesota, people are wrestling with what artificial intelligence means for their jobs, their kids' education, and their privacy. Workers worry about automation replacing good-paying careers in healthcare, retail, logistics, and tech. Parents and teachers are trying to figure out how AI fits into classrooms without undermining critical thinking or academic integrity.

Small business owners want to know whether AI will level the playing field or give even more power to large corporations. And across urban and suburban communities alike, there are real questions about data privacy, misinformation, and whether state government can keep up with technology that's moving faster than our laws.

The common thread isn't fear of innovation; it's the desire for guardrails that protect people while allowing progress to serve the public good.

Affordable Housing

Building homes, building community

In communities like Edina and Bloomington, folks are proud of their neighborhoods, the schools, the parks, and the small businesses—but they're worried about whether their kids will ever be able to afford to live here. Seniors on fixed incomes are anxious about rising property taxes and assessments. Young families are getting priced out before they even have a chance to put down roots.

Renters are seeing monthly costs climb faster than their paychecks. Across Minnesota, we feel the same squeeze: not enough housing at the right price points, too much red tape slowing down smart development, and too many working people spending half their income just to keep a roof over their heads.

This is not a market issue; it's a moral issue. We need bold, practical steps to build more homes, protect renters, support first-time buyers, and ensure all people can live in the communities they serve.

Healthcare

Healthcare is a human right

Healthcare is about dignity. It's about whether a parent can take a sick child to the doctor without worrying about the bill, whether a senior can afford their prescriptions, and whether working people can change jobs without losing coverage. Families are frustrated with rising premiums, high deductibles, and the power insurance companies hold over decisions that doctors and patients should make.

My approach would start with a simple principle: healthcare is a human right.

That means expanding access, lowering prescription drug costs, strengthening public programs, supporting mental health services, and ensuring rural and suburban communities alike have clinics and hospitals that can thrive. Real reform isn't about slogans; it's about standing up to powerful interests and putting people first.

Disability Rights

Dignity, fairness, and full equality under the law

As someone who was injured in the line of duty and now lives with a disability, I understand firsthand the challenges that individuals in this community face every day. These experiences shape my commitment to building a Minnesota where people with disabilities are treated with dignity, fairness, and full equality under the law.

That means ensuring equal pay for equal work by ending subminimum wages and expanding access to competitive, integrated employment. It also means removing arbitrary barriers to employment—such as requiring a driver's license for jobs that do not actually involve driving—so qualified individuals are not unfairly excluded. We must protect the fundamental right to vote by making every polling place fully accessible, offering accessible absentee voting options, and providing materials that all voters can use independently.

Beyond that, Minnesota should invest in accessible transportation, inclusive education, and community-based healthcare services so individuals can live independently and participate fully in society.

I know the importance of having a strong, supportive advocate—someone who not only understands these challenges, but fights to remove the barriers behind them. I will be that voice, working to ensure disability rights are not an afterthought, but a core commitment to justice, opportunity, and full participation for all Minnesotans.
